Clipart File Formats

There are many kinds of file formats in the world of clipart. PNG, JPEG, SVG, AI, DXF and PDF to name a few! It’s important to learn about the different kinds of file formats to figure out what would best suit your creative needs.

At Lime and Kiwi Designs however, we provide all of our clipart in PNG format, meaning that our work can be easily incorporated into many different projects without any hassle or requirement to cut out any images from a white background.

Image Dimensions Matters!

Our Clipart File Specifications

Image Dimensions/Size

When it comes to clipart, image quality can go a long way! If your images aren’t at a large enough dimension, things can start to look very fuzzy or pixelated.

At Lime and Kiwi Designs, we provide all of our standard clipart at approximately* 6.8 inches wide by 6.8 inches tall (about 2084 x 2084 pixels wide and tall). Online projects will usually only require images to be 72 dpi, so our graphics are definitely large enough to be suitable online use, and perfect for many designs that require the images to be physically printed.

*Because every clipart image we provide has its own unique shape, their dimensions will alter slightly to suit. 6.8 inches is the MAXIMUM size at its widest or tallest points.

Our background clipart images are even larger than our standard clipart! They are approximately 12 inches wide x 9.5 inches tall (3605 pixels wide by 2854 pixels tall). Our backgrounds images are always this size, so you know what to expect any time you use one of them!

DPI (Dots Per Image)

Dots per inch (more commonly referred to as ‘DPI’) is also very essential for any image you want to include in your projects! DPI refers to the number of individual dots that can be printed in a single inch. If an image has a high level of dots per inch, it will have a higher level of detail and therefore look sharper!

All of our clipart at Lime and Kiwi Designs is created at 300 dpi, meaning each image holds a high level of detail either on the screen or when it’s printed.

RGB and CMYK

If making any physical products that require printing, it’s important to remember the difference between RGB and CMYK. Most of our clipart is made using CMYK alternatives in RGB (this is due to how PNG’s save), so you shouldn’t see any big changes if printing them out. However, it still pays to be aware of both color models to be sure!

Understanding Clipart Licenses

Before purchasing any clipart, it’s crucial to know about licensing! A license is an electronic document or agreement that allows you to use the graphics you have purchased from Lime and Kiwi Designs for your own projects.

Different kinds of licenses allow you to do certain things with your purchased clipart.

For example, our Standard License (which comes free with every purchased Lime and Kiwi Designs clipart pack) allows you to use your clipart personally without restrictions. It also allows you to use your purchased clipart commercially, but with certain restrictions.

If you wanted to remove those restrictions for commercial use from our Standard License, you could purchase an additional license to do so.

To view all of our licenses and see which would suit your needs, please explore our Licenses page.

Keep in mind that no license we offer includes any clipart packs. All clipart packs must be purchased separately from any licenses.

Providing Credit

Unless a specific license is purchased, you must provide credit to Lime and Kiwi Designs for any graphics used commercially. Please see our Standard License on our Licensing page for more info on how to do this.
